Adhesive Tape Info

The so-called "Duct Tape" is an economical cloth tape with high initial tack (Hot melt) but low clean-removability. It is ideal for masking, bundling, fixing, and quick repairs. It adheres instantly and offers long-lasting bond to a wide range of surfaces.

"Gaffer Tape", on the other hand, is a premium cloth tape (Rayon or Cotton) coated with polyethylene, featuring a higher thickness and a natural rubber adhesive. It is specifically designed for temporary use and residue-free removal. Ideal for securing cables and wires on floors or walls. "Professional" or "Premium" models feature a non-reflective (Matte) finish, essential for film sets and stages.

If you need a higher-performing and more permanent product, you should look for "PVC" tapes. They offer excellent adhesion and clean removal but cannot be hand-torn. They leave no residue if removed within 6 months for indoor applications. You can choose the thin 130-micron (0.13mm) version for general use or the thicker 160/180-micron (0.16/0.18mm) for carpets and heavy-duty flooring in high-traffic areas such as hospitals, gyms, and public offices.

To secure carpets, rugs, linoleum, or mats, the best choice is "Double-Sided Tape". Options vary based on size, materials, hold strength, and resistance to UV rays or moisture. Both permanent and removable versions are available.

Cloth tape is quick and easy to use as it can be torn by hand with a sharp movement. It is a highly durable and waterproof tape that withstands moisture without compromising its hold. It is extremely versatile: use it to seal, hang, or bundle. It is perfect for emergency repairs on anything from pipes to kayak hulls, car bumpers to backpacks, or even for improvised heavy-duty ropes.

The best PVC tape is the G4169 by Tesa (0.18mm thickness).
The MegaTape UT5 is the best value choice, or alternatively the G390. Both are 0.15mm thick.
For higher elasticity with a small plastic core, we recommend the MegaTape UT7 (0.13mm). Alternatively, the G2702 by Scapa (IMQ and VDE certified).
The G420 is the best economical choice with a standard core.
